Oven Baked French Toast_________________________________
| Ingredients: 10 oz French bread 3 cups milk 1 1/2 tsp vanilla 8 large eggs 1 Tbsp sugar 2 Tbsp butter Cinnamon |
| Instructions: Coat 10×6 baking dish with butter. Layer with bread slices. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over bread. Sprinkle with cinnamon & refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. Let sit 5 minutes before serving. A variation is, of course, to layer cream cheese between two slices and follow the directions above. You can use spreadable and flavored cream cheese. I’ve always believed that half of the enjoyment of a dish is the presentation. Dress this up with a shower of powered sugar, a sploosh of your favorite fruit or even fruit jam, whipped topping and a strawberry and mint garnish. Serve with individual pitchers of warm flavored syrup. |
Fantastic Buttermilk Pancakes ______________________________
| Ingredients: 1 egg 1 cup buttermilk 1 cup sour cream 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup flour |
| Instructions: Mix all ingredients together gently. Let sit for 10 minutes while the batter rises – very important. Lightly oil a medium hot grill. Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to pour out batter for pancakes.The lightest, most delicious buttermilk pancakes ever! Prep time: 10 min; yields 2 servings. |
