Singing in the rain!

Sprinkler system is finished! and comes on zone by zone every morning at 2:00 a.m.  I happened to be on the porch last night when I was shot in the stomach by a stream of water.  Glenn got it adjusted this morning and it is behaving nicely.  What a joy not to have to worry about my lawn drying up again this summer and especially not having to reset the hose and sprinkler repeatedly every evening!  I’m loving this new addition to my lovely home, Wise Manor!  We’ve started on the parking area, just waiting for the asphault man to get the paving done, then will build the brick retaining wall facing the street.  This will be a nice addition and a much more welcoming view of the house.

Wren family

I was taking down my Easter door wreath to put up my patriotic wreath, when I happened to look down to notice that my little wren had made her nest and laid six eggs in the lower curve of the wreath AGAIN this year, soooo my front door still has an Easter wreath on the exterior and the patriotic wreath is currently on the inside of the door.  The tiny bird (or one of her offspring) comes ever year and nests in the same place, but I had overlooked her activities this year although I was constantly picking up moss and debris from my threshold.  I should have remembered that she likes that wreath.  Whenever I attempt to peer into her inner sanctum, she flies out, so I can keep tabs on the progress of the eggs.  She doesn’t seem to be deterred in spite of my intrusions and the opening and closing of the door.  When they hatch, they are quiet as little mice, never peeping or cheeping, even when she comes in to feed them.  Then suddenly one day they are gone and the nest is abandoned until next spring.  I give it a good bug spraying and replace it with the patriotic wreath.  And so it goes…
